Gustav - The Imminent Threat
Aug. 31st, 2008 04:37 amHey guys, just giving you all an update, letting you all know what's up.
Right now, I'm at MFM in Memphis, but I've been worked up all day today - and primarily over my plans for Gustav. As some of you know, I live in the greater New Orleans area, and this storm is supposedly poised to be even worse than Katrina. And honestly, that may be saying something given how bad that storm was three years ago.
I've got my fingers crossed that the area I live in will be spared the worst of this storm, but being that it may be a Category 4 or 5...you really can only hope for the best.
Right now, I have plans to head out tomorrow evening, and stay with a friend in Shreveport (in northern Louisiana) along with my roommates from Metairie (Blackwolf, Silver, and Ross) to ride out the storm. Once we get the all clear, we'll head back into town and survey the damage (which I'm sure we'll be seeing on the usual news outlets anyway). The main thing I'm worried about is how bad the storm surge is going to be, and mainly because of how well the city and the surrounding area has fared with these intense storms, and what kind of home I'll come back to.
And to be honest, I feel lost at how to feel right now about all this.
But, guys, if I could ask for anything, just your prayers and thoughts as we in Southern Louisiana brace for an immense hurricane. (Thankfully, as of writing this post, it has decreased enough to assuade a few of my fears, but it still could re-intesnify before it hits the coast. I'll take 125MPH winds over 145 or 150 anyday...)
