Obligatory Anthrocon 08' Debriefing
Jul. 3rd, 2008 07:12 amHay guyz. :3
Yeah, just writing in on how my con went this year. And actually? It wasn't that bad. Wasn't what I was expecting, and I wish I knew more people, but it wasn't bad. I guess I was expecting more going into it, kinda like how it was last year, but it just didn't 'wow' me this year. I dunno.
Granted, I made a few new friends, and at least a few good aquaintences. In addition, I was able to catch up with people I saw last year and that, in and of itself, was my favorite part of the con. I think maybe part of it was I didn't really let on for a lot of people that I was going to AC until just before, and I didn't really know who was going and just threw caution to the wind. Heck, my anxiety issues flared up BIG TIME on the way up and throughout parts of the con. Thankfully though, as the con went on (and the more full nights of sleep I got) it got progressively better. (And all but subsided to a large degree after talking with my friend Kaelis on the way back)
Still, there were people there I wish I could've gotten to see and/or hang out with, but y'know, you take what you can get. And for what it's worth, I'm happy for what it was. :3
Heck, on Sunday? I surprised myself by doing piece after piece in my sketchbook...just whipping them out left and right. I got a total of 9 things done in there that day. Granted, it's kinda messy, but they're relatively complete and more an exercise of my abilities. I'll have those up on my FA account at some point (after I finally get around to scanning them XD). Additionally, I got my first full color commision piece done by Evol, and I have two jumbo badges on the way by Iguana Girl and Cooner. :) (And one from Anjel Kitty - a graffiti badge for getting her some hemp)
Additionally, I think slowly but surely, my name's getting out. After this con especially, I feel like I have some work to do (and almost a responsibility) to develop my talents in a way to give back to this community. Project numero uno? Work on differentiating my species more in a way that works with my style and also looks aesthetically pleasing and identifiable. And who knows? Maybe I might actually try my hand at Arist Alley one of these days. :) Might actually have the confidence to do so next time around.
Beyond that, I'm not going to be a negative nancy and talk about all the things I could have done to have a better con. So...I won't. ;3 Here's to next year, and a less overanalytical tiger. X3
Also, I wanna thank these doods for helping me have a great time there:
Reginho and Mapdark for the room offer, Exatron, Darius, Zschamm (Tsaro), Menokh, Skitzy (for encouraging me to draw and draw and draw some more), Nauta, Sevron (totally cool meeting you dude!), Noilez, NeoPanTyger, Kaelis, Raven, Kaliera, Gelus, Nemo, Vince Suzukawa, and some other guys I know I can't remember. So if I forgot you, let me know so I can add you to the list. ^_^;; That, and there were a few people I wish I could have gotten to know better, or saw in passing, but then, there'll be other cons, I'm sure.
Beyond that - keep your eyes peeled! I'll have a link up once I have the art uploaded (and FA's back online).
